Introducing the Certikin Co2 Flow Controller – 240Vac, a cutting-edge solution revolutionizing pH control in the swimming pool industry. With the increasing use of Carbon Dioxide (CO2) for maintaining optimal pH levels in pool water, this innovative controller offers a host of benefits that set it apart from traditional methods.
When CO2 is introduced into pool water, it forms a mild carbonic acid that effectively regulates pH levels while also creating natural bicarbonate that aids in pH stabilization. Unlike mineral acids like sodium bisulphate and hydrochloric acid, CO2 is a colorless, odorless, and non-flammable gas, making it safe and easy to handle without the need for special protective equipment.
In compliance with COSHH regulations, pool operators are required to conduct risk assessments when selecting chemicals for pool maintenance. CO2 emerges as a safer alternative, eliminating risks associated with spillages and ventilation issues commonly seen with other chemicals.
One of the key advantages of using CO2 is its inherent safety features. Unlike mineral acids, CO2 cannot be accidentally mixed with other substances like sodium or calcium hypochlorite, thereby reducing the risk of hazardous chlorine gas production. This eliminates a significant safety concern in swimming pool environments.
The gradual pH reduction facilitated by CO2 allows for improved process control compared to mineral acids. This gradual adjustment not only ensures precise pH management but also simplifies the overall control process. While the pH reduction may be slower, the accuracy and stability it offers make it a preferred choice for pool operators seeking optimal water quality.
The CO2 Injector, an integral component of the system, is designed for easy maintenance. The injector features a removable injection quill/defuser, allowing for hassle-free cleaning without the need to isolate the circulation line. This design ensures efficient operation and minimal downtime for maintenance purposes.
Enhancing the functionality of the CO2 system is the CO2 Flow Controller, housed in an IP-rated enclosure for added protection. This controller enables precise adjustment of CO2 flow to the injection point, offering flexibility and control over the pH management process. Additionally, the controller can be seamlessly integrated with CertiChem controllers for automated control based on water pH parameters, streamlining the maintenance process.
With its advanced features, safety benefits, and user-friendly design, the Certikin Co2 Flow Controller – 240Vac is a game-changer in pH control for swimming pools. Experience the benefits of CO2 technology and elevate your pool maintenance to new heights with this innovative solution.

Certikin Co2 Flow Controller – 240Vac
Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is increasingly being used for pH control within the swimming pool industry. When injected or diffused into the pool water, the CO2 forms a mild carbonic acid for pH control as well as forming natural bicarbonate which assists in the stabilisation of the pH level. Why CO2-CO2 offers a number of advantages over the mineral acids such as sodium bisulphate andhydrochloric acid:- CO2 is colourless, odourless and a non-flammable gas. It is easy to handle and dose and is dangerous only if released into a confined area. It requires no special protective equipment- Under COSHH regulations a pool operator must carry out a risk assessment in selecting the chemicals to use in a pool. The first step is to ascertain whether using an alternativeprocess or chemical can eliminate the risk – CO2 scores on this count- Deliveries are unlikely to result in emergencies because of spillages and, where ventilation is good, CO2 does not demand any special safety monitoring for leakage- Unlike mineral acids, itis not possible to mix CO2 with sodium or calcium hypochlorite(in liquid form) through spillage in bunds or operator error. This means there is no possibility of accidental production of chlorine gas – a significant hazard in swimming pool installations- Due to its natural buffering action, CO2 provides improved process control. pH reduction is more gradual than with mineral acids making accurate control inherently easier but sometimes slower.CO2 InjectorAn essential part of any CO2 system – the injector. The injector has been specifically designed so that the injection quill / defuser can easily be removed for cleaning without the need to isolate the circulation line.CO2 Flow ControllerAn IP rated enclosure which allows adjustment of CO2 flow to the injection point. Supply can be connected to CertiChem controllers for automatic control based on pH water parameters.
