Main Drain HD33 Featuring Certikin’s unique grille design and available for concrete or liner pools, the HD33 drain is used to draw the base water for filtering and is also used as the principal method of emptying the pool. Both concrete and liner types come complete with self-tapping fixing screws for added safety. Manufactured in white ABS, this main drain offers a range of features that make it a standout choice for pool owners.

One of the key features of the Main Drain HD33 is its high flow and low velocity grille supplied as standard. This design provides up to 50% more free flow area than other models, ensuring efficient water circulation and filtration. Additionally, the anti-vortex design of the drain helps prevent issues such as air entrapment and swirling water, contributing to a cleaner and safer swimming environment.

For added durability, the Main Drain HD33 comes with a protective film that prevents damage during installation, ensuring a longer lifespan for the product. Customers also have the option to upgrade to a stainless steel grille (CK33S) for enhanced strength and corrosion resistance, ideal for commercial installations or high-traffic pool areas.

When it comes to selecting the right main drain size, it is crucial to consider the total flow directed to the plant room via the sump(s). The sump size should be chosen accordingly to ensure optimal performance and water circulation. In normal conditions, the flow will be divided between surface draw-off and sump(s) based on the pool type: 70% surface/30% sump for skimmer type pools or 50% surface/50% sump for deck level pools.

It is important to note that on commercial or shallow pool applications, stainless steel main drain grilles are a must to meet safety standards and regulations. To prevent any risks to bathers, main drains should be strategically arranged to avoid any potential entrapment or suction hazards. As a general recommendation, it is advised to install a minimum of 2 main drains spaced 2 meters apart for increased safety and efficiency.

Recommendation – Main drains must be arranged so that there is no risk of bathers being drawn towards them or trapped there. It is recommended that on all installations, including domestic, a minimum of 2 x main drains are installed 2 metres apart.
