Welcome to the world of Certikin Lid Ring for the Aquatron Pump! Dive into the details of this innovative product that ensures the smooth operation and longevity of your Aquatron Pump.
The Aquatron Pump has undergone a significant transformation from its MK II to Mk III style back in July 1994. In the realm of Certikin Spares, the MK II is fondly dubbed as the ‘Old Type,’ while the MK III shines as the ‘New Type.’ To identify whether you have the newer version, simply check the grey sticker on the returns end of the pump. If the serial number on the sticker culminates in ‘N,’ congratulations, you are a proud owner of the ‘New Type’ pump.
Delving deeper into the intricacies of the impellors, distinguishing between the ‘New’ and ‘Old’ types becomes a breeze. Measure the dimension on the impellor’s inlet opposite the thread. For an ‘Old Type’ impellor, this dimension stands at 44mm, while for the ‘New Type,’ it extends to 54mm, aiding in easy identification.
For those curious minds, the only disparity between the 1.5HP and the 2HP ‘Old Type’ impellors lies in the shape of the fins nestled inside the impellor. The 1.5HP impellor boasts curved fins, whereas its 2HP counterpart flaunts fins with a discernible flat section, a fascinating detail that sets them apart.
When the need arises to order a capacitor for your Aquatron pump, a crucial step lies in identifying the motor type. Is it a Lafert motor or a Certikin motor? Here’s the key: a MK II pump is equipped with a Lafert motor, whereas a MK III proudly houses a Certikin motor, making the distinction crystal clear.

Certikin Lid ‘O’ Ring
Aquatron Pump
The Aquatron Pump changed from MK II to Mk III style in July 1994. In the Certikin Spares List the MK II is referred to as ‘Old Type’ and the MK III as ‘New Type’. If the grey sticker on the returns end of the pump has a serial number ending in ‘N’ then it is a ‘New Type’ pump.
It is possible to distinguish between ‘New’ and ‘Old’ impellors by measuring the dimension on the impellor of the inlet opposite to the thread. On an ‘Old Type’ impellor this dimension is 44mm and on the ‘New Type’ is 54mm.
The only difference between the 1.5HP and the 2HP ‘Old Type’ impellors is the shape of the fins inside the impellor. On a 1.5HP impellor the fins are curved, and on a 2HP impellor they have a visible flat section.
When ordering a capacitor for an Aqwuatron pump it is important to identify the type of motor. Is it a Lafert motor or a Certikin motor? A MK II pump has a Lafert motor and a MK III has a certikin motor.
